I always go back to the figure, as I am a figure painter. The figure for me is the most compelling image. There is no end to its exploration and expression.
I wanted to combine all of the subject motifs I had been using into one composition with a spiritual significance. I was able to combine figures, landscape and sunset in Perpetua and Felicity. I actually quite like it. The original is rather compelling.
